The bridge linking Roscigno to Sacco in the territory of the latter crosses the Sammaro, exactly above the spring.
In an environment of high naturalistic interest where the caves, such a Grotta Grande di Sacco, were inhabited in prehistoric times. After twelve kilometres, the Sammaro flows into the Ripiti or torrent Pietra, which is itself a tributary of the Calore Lucano.
